Christ the Eternal Torturer

While discussing the issue of torture at Abu Gherib and Gitmo, I have stated that Christ will torment his enemies forever. Bev, in my comments section referred to this position as "Christ the Eternal Torturer". I think that is a perfect name for our fear-inspiring Lord. I could further add that just as He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, he is equally Torturer of Torturers.

Here is the evidence for "Christ the Eternal Torturer"

1. Demons know there is a future time where Christ will torture them.

"What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?" Matthew 8:29; also Luke 8:28, Mark 5:7
2. Jesus teaches about the torture (agony, fire, separation) of Hell.
22 "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, `Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.' LK 16:22-24
3. Jesus the king, will send people to eternal torture
"Then he will say to those on his left, `Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. MT 25:41

"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."MT 25:46

4. The devil, the beast and the false prophet will be tortured forever.
And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Rev 20:10
5. All who are not written in the Book of life will be tortured forever.
If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Rev 20:15

9 A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: "If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, 10 he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name." Rev 14:9-11

All this leads to the inescapable conclusion that Christ is the Eternal Torturer. This is the dark side of the gospel. When we embrace Christ as both Redeemer Torturer, the will be a new fear of the Lord sweep out from the churches and into the world.
